Game versions and your mod
Ocarina of Time was released many times: NTSC 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2, the PAL versions,
the GameCube discs, Master Quest, and the debug builds. Ship of Harkinian builds
your oot.o2r from the copy you own, so two players can hold archives made
from different versions.
Why that matters
Inside the archive, every piece of a scene has a name. That name comes from the
place the piece sat in the original game file — for example
spot01_room_0DL_001F20.
Nintendo changed a few scenes between versions. When something is added early in a scene's data, everything after it moves, and all of those names change. A mod made from one version then points at names the other version does not have. In Ship of Harkinian this usually means the scene loads wrong, or the game crashes.
Most scenes are not affected. Their names are the same everywhere, and a mod that changes them works for everyone.
What Prelude does about it
You do not have to do anything. When you edit one of the affected scenes,
Prelude puts a full copy of that scene into your exported .o2r, taken from
your own archive. Your mod then carries every name it needs, so it loads on every
version of the game.
The export window tells you when this happens, which scenes are included, and how much bigger the file becomes. Archive Info shows the same thing in more detail before you export.
Three things worth knowing:
- The file gets bigger — about 0.3 to 0.6 MB for each affected scene.
- The copy comes from your own archive. Nothing is downloaded, and nothing is uploaded. It stays in your browser, like everything else in Prelude.
- Two mods that both include the same scene will clash. Ship of Harkinian loads the last one, so only one of them will be visible in that scene.
Scenes you import yourself (from a .glb) or copy into a debug slot are never
affected: they are new scenes, and they already carry all of their own data.
The affected scenes
These 33 scenes have different resource names in different versions. Edit any of them and your export will include a full copy:
These 8 test scenes exist only in the debug builds of the game. A copy is included for the same reason — so the mod also works for players whose version never had the scene:
Every other scene — 81 of them — is named identically in every version we have measured, and needs no extra data.

Which resources rename, scene by scene — a table of how many display lists, vertices, textures, headers and more change their names in each affected scene, which versions agree with which, and where the measurements come from.
